COURSE CURRICULUM

This three-year BA (Hons) Musical Theatre program is designed to develop versatile performers equipped for professional careers in theatre and performance. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation through modules such as singing and musicality, musical theatre choreography, musical theatre performance, the actors’ toolbox, contextualising musical theatre, and the revue musical, combining technical skill with an understanding of the historical and cultural context of the art form. The second year builds on this foundation with style study, voice and movement, skills expansion, creating theatre, text transitions, and the TIE musical, allowing students to refine their performance abilities, explore different theatrical styles, and develop creative and collaborative skills. In the final year, the focus shifts to professional preparation and individual artistic development through modules including fringe theatre, showcase and showreel, the book musical, performance perspectives, and the emerging artist. Students have opportunities to demonstrate their skills in performance projects, develop a professional portfolio, and gain experience in presenting work to industry professionals. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on the integration of singing, acting, and dance, fostering adaptability, confidence, and artistic expression. Graduates leave with a comprehensive skill set, practical experience, and professional readiness to pursue diverse careers in musical theatre, performance, and creative arts.
