COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Esports degree provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the theory, practice, and business of esports, preparing them for careers across this fast-growing industry. In the first year, students develop core skills through modules such as Principles of Esports, Video Production for Esports, Podcasting, Game Design and Concept, Personal Livestreaming, and Media Presentation Skills. These modules focus on building technical competence, creative expression, and effective communication within esports and digital media. In the second year, students advance their knowledge with modules covering Esports Event Fundamentals, Esports Team Game Analysis and Data Management, Professional Skills and Live Brief, Social Media Marketing and Community Management, Worldbuilding, and Shoutcasting and Advanced Esports Presentation. These courses emphasize real-world applications, audience engagement, and professional development, while introducing strategic and analytical skills required in competitive gaming. The final year consolidates learning through the Esports Major Project, Planning for Media, Games Business, Emerging Technologies in Esports and Livestreaming, and Creative Entrepreneurship. This stage allows students to combine practical expertise with business acumen, exploring the commercial, technological, and creative aspects of esports. Graduates emerge with a versatile skill set, ready to pursue careers in event management, broadcasting, marketing, content creation, and entrepreneurship within the esports and wider gaming industries.
