COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Advertising and Public Relations course offers a structured progression through creative, strategic and professional development. In Year 1, students build a foundation by exploring contemporary promotional culture, consumer behaviour, and brand design, while also gaining skills in media presentation and communication design to craft compelling stories. Year 2 advances into the practical and strategic aspects of the industry, focusing on research, data and insights to understand audiences, alongside modules in creative and art direction and campaign development. Students also undertake an internship through an industry-mentored brief, allowing them to apply their skills in a professional environment, while the emerging technologies module keeps them updated with the latest industry tools and innovations. In Year 3, students step into professional practice with “The Agency” module, simulating real-world teamwork and project delivery, alongside their Major Project, where they specialise in advertising or public relations with a focus on developing a substantial creative campaign. Modules in anti-advertising and disruptive design encourage critical and alternative approaches to communication, while creative entrepreneurship nurtures independent thinking and business skills. This progression ensures students graduate with creative, analytical, and entrepreneurial abilities ready for careers in advertising, PR or related industries.
