COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Sustainable Finance and Accounting at the University of Sussex provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the integration of sustainability principles within accounting and finance. The program equips students with the knowledge and skills to address environmental, social, and governance challenges in the financial sector. In the autumn term, core modules such as Accounting, Organisations and Society, Sustainability Accounting and Reporting, Sustainable Business Finance, and Sustainable Development: Politics and Policies introduce students to the theoretical and practical aspects of sustainability in business and finance, covering policy frameworks, financial reporting, and sustainable investment strategies. The spring term builds on this foundation with modules including Accountability and Ethics, Climate Finance, and Research Methods for Finance, enhancing analytical and research capabilities, while emphasizing ethical decision-making and the financial implications of climate and environmental issues. The summer term culminates in a Research Project, allowing students to apply their learning to real-world challenges in sustainable finance and accounting. Optional modules, including Corporate Governance, Energy Policy and Sustainability, and Ethics and Organisations, enable students to tailor their studies to specific interests. By combining academic rigor, applied learning, and exposure to contemporary sustainability practices, the MSc prepares graduates for careers in sustainable finance, corporate reporting, governance, and consultancy, equipping them to drive responsible and socially conscious financial decision-making.
