COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Psychology provides a comprehensive foundation in the core areas of psychology, combining theoretical knowledge with practical research skills. Core modules ensure that all students gain a solid grounding in the discipline and prepare them to pursue specialized topics of interest. In the autumn term, students study cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, ethics and the history of psychology, and research skills in psychology, building a strong understanding of psychological theory, human development, and the ethical frameworks guiding research and practice. In the spring term, the course advances into biological psychology, social psychology, clinical psychology in practice, and advanced research skills, allowing students to explore the biological bases of behaviour, social interactions, clinical applications, and sophisticated research methodologies. Throughout the spring and summer, students complete a research dissertation, providing hands-on experience in designing, conducting, and analysing an independent research project under expert supervision. This combination of core teaching and research experience equips graduates with the skills necessary for further training or professional practice in various psychology fields. The course develops critical thinking, analytical skills, and ethical awareness, preparing students for careers in clinical psychology, educational psychology, research psychology, counselling psychology, and other related disciplines, while fostering the ability to apply psychological knowledge in real-world settings.
