COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Occupational and Organisational Psychology at Sussex offers both full-time and part-time study options, designed to accommodate students’ work and personal commitments. Part-time students typically attend one weekday per term, with some terms requiring one and a half days, and occasional extra sessions may be scheduled. The course provides a comprehensive foundation in organisational psychology, preparing students to apply psychological principles in workplace settings. Core modules cover a range of essential topics, beginning with autumn teaching that includes assessment and development at work, leadership, engagement and motivation, research methods, workplace learning, training and coaching, and insights from Sussex experts’ research and practice. In the spring term, students advance their skills through modules such as advanced research methods for occupational psychology, the social psychology of organisations, well-being at work, and the future of work design. The program culminates in a dissertation, allowing students to undertake independent research in a relevant area of organisational psychology. Through a blend of theoretical study, practical application, and research-led teaching, students develop the expertise required to assess, influence, and improve workplace practices, enhance employee wellbeing, and support organisational development. Graduates are well-prepared for careers as occupational or organisational psychologists across a variety of industries and professional contexts.
