COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Mathematics at Sussex combines a strong core component with a wide range of optional modules, allowing students to develop both foundational and specialised skills in pure and applied mathematics. The core of the program is the year-long dissertation, which provides an opportunity for in-depth research under the guidance of expert faculty, enabling students to explore a mathematical topic of their choice and develop independent research skills. In the autumn term, students can choose from modules such as Advanced Numerical Analysis, Computing for Data Analytics and Finance, Data Science Research Methods, Financial Mathematics, Functional Analysis, Introduction to Mathematical Biology, Linear Statistical Models, Partial Differential Equations, and Probability Models. The spring term offers options including Complex Analysis, Cryptography, Dynamical Systems, Financial Investment and Corporate Risk Analysis, Financial Portfolio Analysis, Machine Learning and Statistics for Health, Monte Carlo Simulations, Numerical Solution of Partial Differential Equations, and Statistical Inference.
