COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in International Business Economics at Sussex provides students with a thorough grounding in economic theory, quantitative methods, and practical data analysis to prepare for careers in business, finance, and management. Core modules in the autumn term, including Accounting for Decision Makers, Analytical Methods for Finance and Business Economics, International Business Economics, Quantitative Methods for Finance and Business, and Trading, give students a solid foundation in both theoretical and applied economics. In the spring term, students advance their skills with Data Processing, Coding and Visualisation, Financial and Time Series Econometrics, Financial Markets and Institutions, Managerial and Human Resource Economics, and Research Methods for International Finance and Business. These modules combine technical proficiency with critical understanding of financial systems, business strategy, and economic decision-making. During the summer term, students undertake a Business Economics Research Project, allowing them to apply learned techniques to an independent, research-driven study, enhancing their analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Throughout the course, students develop practical experience with data analysis, coding, and econometrics while gaining insight into both micro- and macroeconomic contexts that shape global business environments. Graduates emerge equipped to tackle complex economic challenges, interpret financial data, and contribute effectively to organisations in business, finance, and international economic policy.
