COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Engineering Management at Sussex combines core modules and optional courses to provide students with a comprehensive education in both technical and managerial aspects of engineering. Core modules give all students a strong foundation, starting with autumn teaching in Accounting for Decision Makers, Global Business Environment, and Managing Organisations, Innovation and Sustainability, equipping students with essential business knowledge and strategic insight. In the spring term, students study Managing Complex Projects, Products and Systems and Strategic Management, focusing on project planning, leadership, and decision-making in complex engineering environments. The summer term is dedicated to the MSc Engineering Project, allowing students to apply their learning to a substantial research or industry-linked project. Optional modules enable students to tailor their studies to specific interests, covering advanced technical topics such as Advanced Digital Signal Processing, Advanced Electronic Systems, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Control Engineering, Internet-of-Things and Embedded System Practice, Autonomous Vehicles, Embedded Systems and Sensors, Industrial Automation and Mechatronics, and Wearable Technologies. Additional options in areas like mechanical dynamics, thermofluids, programming for engineers, and managing intellectual property further broaden technical expertise. The combination of management, business, and engineering-focused learning equips graduates with the skills to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex projects, drive innovation, and succeed in engineering management roles, technology consultancy, and entrepreneurial ventures in global industries.
