COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Psychological Research provides a structured and comprehensive program combining core modules with practical research experience to prepare students for careers in psychological research or doctoral study. Core modules offer a strong foundation in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, enabling students to develop the analytical, statistical, and experimental skills necessary for advanced psychological investigation. In the autumn term, students study An Adventure in Statistics, Qualitative Research Methods, and Research Reform and Open Science, gaining essential skills in data analysis, research design, and open science practices. The Research Process module, delivered across autumn and spring, guides students through the full cycle of designing, conducting, and evaluating research projects. In the spring term, students deepen their quantitative expertise through Advanced Statistics, Bayesian Statistics, and Programming for Experiments, acquiring the technical and computational skills needed to analyse complex psychological data and conduct sophisticated experiments. The program culminates in a Research Dissertation undertaken in the spring and summer terms, allowing students to explore a specific area of psychology in depth under expert supervision, synthesising theoretical knowledge and practical research skills. Overall, the course equips graduates with the methodological expertise, critical thinking, and practical experience required to succeed in research-focused roles, pursue doctoral studies, or contribute to evidence-based practice across a wide range of psychological disciplines.
