COURSE CURRICULUM

The MRes in Advanced Artificial Intelligence offers a comprehensive and research-oriented curriculum that builds a deep understanding of modern AI techniques and their real-world applications. Core modules provide a strong foundation in advanced machine learning and bio-inspired AI, while also encouraging students to explore the design, implementation, and evaluation of intelligent systems. Through the AI Project Proposal and Research Methods modules, students develop essential research and analytical skills that prepare them for their dissertation and future academic or industrial research. The course also examines the ethical, social, and practical implications of artificial intelligence, helping students to critically assess its broader impact on society. Optional modules such as Advanced Software Engineering, Algorithmic Data Science, Applied Natural Language Processing, and Artificial Life enable students to tailor their learning to specific interests and emerging areas of AI. The program culminates in an independent research dissertation, where students apply theoretical knowledge to a specialist project of their choice.
