COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Geopolitics and International Affairs at Sussex provides students with a comprehensive understanding of global power dynamics, security challenges, and international relations. The course is structured to accommodate both full-time and part-time study, offering flexibility for students to balance their academic and professional commitments. Core modules build a strong foundation in geopolitics, covering subjects such as Geopolitics and International Affairs, New Security Challenges, and Research Methods and Professional Skills, culminating in a summer dissertation that allows students to explore a specific area of interest in depth. Alongside these core modules, students can choose from a range of options to tailor their learning, including Finance and the Future of Capitalism, Forced Labour, Trafficking and Global Mobility, Managing Economic Instability, Religions, Cultures and Civilisations in International Relations, Russia, Eurasia and the Crisis of the Liberal West, The Global Politics of Environment, Justice and Development, and The Middle East in Global Order. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary analysis, combining theoretical frameworks with practical insights into current global issues. Students gain the skills to critically evaluate geopolitical developments, understand complex international security concerns, and apply this knowledge to careers in policy-making, international organizations, research, and strategic advisory roles, preparing them for impactful contributions in a global context.
