COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Cultural and Creative Industries provides a comprehensive understanding of how cultural and creative sectors operate through a combination of core and optional modules. The core module, Researching Cultural and Creative Industries, introduces students to key theories, research methods, and critical perspectives essential for analysing cultural production and creative practices. Throughout the year, students also undertake a Cultural and Creative Industries Dissertation, enabling them to conduct independent research, and may gain practical experience through the Industry Experience module, which offers insights into professional environments. To tailor their learning, students can choose from a diverse range of optional modules that explore different aspects of culture, media, and creativity. These include Film Festival Studies, Gender, Sexuality and Digital Culture, Media Theory and Research, and Innovation in the Creative Economy. Other options such as Digital Marketing, Podcasting, Promotional Culture, Public Relations, and Regulating the Creative Industries equip students with practical and analytical skills relevant to today’s creative economy. The course blends academic theory with hands-on experience, preparing students to critically engage with cultural production, media industries, and creative business practices. Graduates are well positioned for careers in cultural management, marketing, media, public relations, and other roles within the creative and cultural sectors.
