COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Criminology and Criminal Justice provides a strong interdisciplinary foundation through its core and optional modules, combining theoretical insight with practical understanding of crime and justice. Core modules include Criminology in Theory and Method and Issues in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, which develop students’ analytical and research skills while deepening their understanding of key criminological and legal debates. In the spring and summer terms, students complete a Criminology Dissertation, allowing them to conduct independent research on a chosen topic, applying the theoretical and methodological skills gained throughout the course. To complement the core modules, students can choose from a wide range of optional modules that reflect current global issues and emerging areas of criminological research. Options include Cybercrime Law, Hate Crime and Sexual Violence, Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, Neurocriminology, Sex, Work and Reproduction, Terrorism and the Internet, and The Existential Self: Chaos, Meaning and Human Potential. These modules enable students to explore diverse perspectives on crime, human behavior, and social justice. The flexible structure of the course ensures students can tailor their studies to align with personal interests and career aspirations, preparing them for roles in research, policy, criminal justice, or further academic study.
