COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics and Physics course provides a strong foundation in both disciplines, combining rigorous mathematical training with a deep understanding of physical principles. In the first year, students study core topics such as analysis, mechanics, heat and modern physics, and waves and fields, alongside modules in data analysis and mathematical methods for physics. These establish essential problem-solving and analytical skills. The second year builds on this foundation with advanced modules in electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, thermal and statistical physics, and theoretical physics. Students also develop computational skills through options like scientific computing, calculus of several variables, and ordinary differential equations. In the final year, the focus shifts to specialised and applied areas, including atomic physics, condensed state physics, and nuclear and particle physics. A major component is the BSc Final Year Project, where students conduct independent research under expert supervision. Optional modules such as lasers and photonics, complex analysis, dynamical systems, quantum mechanics 2, and stellar and planetary physics allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests. By graduation, students gain advanced mathematical modelling, analytical reasoning, and computational skills, preparing them for careers in research, technology, data analysis, or further academic study in physics or applied mathematics.
