COURSE CURRICULUM

The Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering degree provides students with a solid foundation in electrical, mechanical, and control engineering, preparing them for careers in robotics, automation, and advanced engineering systems. In Year 1, students gain essential knowledge through modules such as Electrical Circuits and Devices, Engineering Maths, Materials and Manufacturing Processes, Programming for Engineers, Engineering Mechanics, and Technical Drawing and Computer-Aided Design. They also develop practical skills through Electronic Devices and Circuit Prototyping and participate in hands-on projects like the Global Design Challenge. Year 2 expands technical expertise with modules in Design for Manufacture, Digital Systems and Microprocessor Design, Electronic Circuit and Systems Design, Embedded Systems, Industrial Automation and Mechatronics, and Systems Analysis and Control, while students also develop professional and managerial skills. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics including Control Engineering, Mechanics of Mechanisms and Robots, Autonomous Vehicles, and Robot Design and Implementation, alongside Business and Project Management. The Individual Project allows for independent research and practical application of knowledge, while optional modules such as Programming in C++ and Smart Interactive Sensing Systems and Applications enable students to specialise further. Combining theoretical study with extensive laboratory work and project-based learning, the course equips graduates with the technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills needed to excel in the evolving field of robotics and mechatronics engineering.
