COURSE CURRICULUM

The Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) degree provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education that builds strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In the first year, students gain a solid foundation through core modules such as Introduction to Mathematics for Finance and Economics, Reason and Argument, Macroeconomics 1 and Microeconomics 1. Optional modules, including British Political History, Existentialism, Logic and Meaning and Foundations of Politics, introduce key ideas across the three disciplines. In the second year, students expand their understanding with options such as Ancient Philosophy, Epistemology, European Politics, Modern Political Thought, and intermediate economics courses like Macroeconomics 2, Microeconomics 2 and Statistics and Introductory Econometrics. This stage deepens theoretical knowledge while applying it to political and economic contexts. In the final year, students specialise further, choosing from a broad range of advanced options including Behavioural Economics, International Trade, Ethics, Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, Political Psychology and Environmental Politics. This flexibility allows students to shape their studies according to their career goals and intellectual interests. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on integrating philosophical reasoning, political analysis and economic modelling to address real-world issues, preparing graduates for diverse careers in government, policy-making, finance, research, or international organisations.
