COURSE CURRICULUM

The Education degree offers a comprehensive understanding of how learning evolves across different stages of life and within diverse social contexts. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as History, Purpose and Power of Education Globally and Human Flourishing: Educating the Whole Child, which explore the global aims of education and holistic approaches to child development. Spring modules like Education Across the Life Course and Inclusive Practices connect theory to real-world teaching and learning experiences. In Year 2, the focus shifts to critical engagement with social and political dimensions of education through Education for Citizenship and Education, Democracy and Social Justice. Students also develop practical research and professional skills in Becoming a Researcher and Engaging in an Education Environment. By Year 3, students apply their knowledge to contemporary issues, studying Digital Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and Global Literacies and Multilingualism, while conducting independent research through the Research Minded Project. Additional modules such as Interprofessional Perspectives on Education and Reimagining Education in an Uncertain Age of Change encourage critical reflection on inequality, poverty, and the future of education. Overall, the course prepares graduates to influence educational practice and policy in a rapidly changing global context.
