COURSE CURRICULUM

The Education and Psychology degree offers an in-depth understanding of how people learn and develop, preparing students to shape educational practices and policies. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as History, Purpose and Power of Education Globally and Human Flourishing: Educating the Whole Child, alongside Psychology of Child Development and Social Psychology and Individual Differences, which explore how social and emotional factors influence learning. Spring modules like Education Across the Life Course and Inclusive Practices link theory to real-world teaching contexts. In Year 2, the course deepens understanding of key areas including Biological Psychology, Education for Citizenship, and Education, Democracy and Social Justice. Students also develop essential research and professional skills through Becoming a Researcher, Engaging in an Education Environment, and Psychology of Cognitive Processes. In the final year, students integrate educational and psychological perspectives in modules such as Digital Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, Understanding Clinical Psychology, and Advanced Topics in Psychology. The Research Minded Project allows for independent investigation, while modules like Interprofessional Perspectives on Education and Reimagining Education in an Uncertain Age of Change encourage critical reflection on inequality and innovation.
