COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Diagnostic Radiography program is structured over two intensive years, blending academic learning with hands-on clinical practice to prepare graduates for professional roles in diagnostic imaging. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of diagnostic radiography through modules such as Introduction to Diagnostic Imaging and Applications of Diagnostic Imaging. These provide a comprehensive understanding of key imaging techniques and technologies, alongside their application in a clinical context. The module on Integrated Care and Multidisciplinary Working emphasizes collaboration across healthcare disciplines, ensuring students develop the communication and teamwork skills essential for effective patient care. Year one also includes Practice Placement 1, where students gain their first practical experience in real-world clinical settings, allowing them to apply academic knowledge and begin developing core professional competencies.In the second year, the focus shifts to professional development and research. The Contemporary Practitioner module explores current challenges, innovations, and ethical considerations in diagnostic radiography, encouraging students to critically reflect on their role within the evolving healthcare landscape. Students undertake a Research Project, giving them the opportunity to investigate an area of interest, apply research methodologies, and contribute to evidence-based practice. The Advancing Radiography Practice module supports the development of advanced clinical skills, leadership qualities, and reflective practice essential for career progression. Practice Placement 2 provides further clinical exposure and skill refinement, helping students meet professional standards and become confident, competent diagnostic radiographers. This program structure ensures a well-rounded education, combining academic depth with practical experience, and equips students with the skills and knowledge to thrive in diverse healthcare environments.
