COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Public Health and Wellbeing course provides a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle current public health challenges. The program begins with the Principles of Public Health and Wellbeing, offering a foundational understanding of the factors influencing population health, including environmental, social, and economic determinants. Through the Research Methods and Epidemiology module, students gain essential skills in data collection, interpretation, and application, enabling them to develop evidence-based strategies and interventions. The course also includes Global Public Health Leadership, which prepares students to manage and lead initiatives across diverse international contexts, promoting effective health leadership and collaboration on a global scale.Students have the flexibility to explore specific areas of interest through a range of optional modules. Public Health Nutrition focuses on the impact of dietary habits on health outcomes, while Physical Activity and Public Health explores the role of movement and exercise in disease prevention and overall wellbeing. Maternal and Infant Health addresses healthcare during critical early life stages, and Mental Health Through the Life Course examines psychological wellbeing from childhood through old age, considering the impact of mental health at every stage of life.The program culminates in a Dissertation, which provides an opportunity for students to conduct independent research on a topic relevant to public health and wellbeing. This project encourages the practical application of theoretical and methodological knowledge to real-world health issues. The course aims to develop graduates who are ready to become effective public health professionals capable of addressing health inequalities, implementing policy, and promoting sustainable health practices. Graduates may go on to work in public health roles across government, non-profit, healthcare, and community sectors, contributing to improved health outcomes and equity at local, national, and global levels.
