COURSE CURRICULUM

This MA Education course offers a dynamic and practice-focused curriculum, structured around contemporary issues in education and childhood studies. Students begin with Reflective Practice and Ethics, where they examine their professional values and responsibilities, fostering a critical awareness of ethical considerations in educational contexts. Critical Perspectives in Childhood Studies and Education explores evolving theories and debates about childhood, education systems, and policy. The module on Globalisation, Social Justice, and Children’s Rights encourages students to think globally about education, focusing on inequalities and the rights of children across diverse cultures. Inclusive Practice and Disability delves into strategies for promoting equitable access to learning, while Neurodiversity – Learning and Mental Health provides an in-depth look into how neurodiverse learners experience education and how mental health shapes learning environments. Applying Theory in Research prepares students with essential research skills, including designing projects and critically evaluating evidence. Leadership and Coaching equips learners to guide others and implement change in professional settings through collaborative and empowering approaches. A unique component is the Championing Children in Care module, which includes the Designated Teacher Award, preparing educators to support the learning and development of care-experienced children.
