COURSE CURRICULUM

The law degree at the University of Suffolk offers a comprehensive and modern legal education structured across three years. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through core modules such as Law and Lawyering, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Ethics, Justice, and the Legal Profession, and Contract Law. These modules introduce essential legal concepts, institutions, and professional ethics, while also developing fundamental legal skills including research, writing, and critical analysis. The second year deepens this knowledge with mandatory modules in Tort Law, Research Methods in Law, Land Law, and Equity and Trusts. These areas form the backbone of private and public legal practice and are critical for understanding property rights, civil liability, and the equitable system. Students can also choose two optional modules, allowing them to explore areas of personal interest or align with career aspirations. In the third and final year, students undertake an Independent Project that encourages in-depth research and original thought. Mandatory modules in EU Law and Administrative Law ensure a well-rounded understanding of the legal systems influencing the UK. Two further optional modules offer flexibility for students to specialise further. Throughout the course, the structure is designed to build both academic knowledge and practical legal skills, supporting students toward career readiness.
