COURSE CURRICULUM

The Performance Analysis course is structured across three years to build both foundational and advanced expertise in sports performance analysis. In Year 1, students are introduced to the principles of psychology and coaching, physiology and nutrition, and the basics of sports performance analysis. They also explore biomechanics as it relates to strength and conditioning, providing an essential grounding in the mechanics of human movement. This foundation ensures that students understand the physical and psychological aspects that influence performance.In Year 2, the curriculum becomes more applied and sport-specific. Modules focus on applied performance analysis and match analysis in team sports, where students examine the impact of data on coaching decisions. Practical knowledge is deepened through modules on supporting athletes in high-performance environments and using data visualisation techniques to interpret and present performance data. These modules develop the analytical and communication skills required in real-world settings.Year 3 prepares students for elite sport environments, covering advanced topics such as talent development, contemporary issues in sports performance analysis, athlete conditioning, and the critical process of talent identification and recruitment. Students also undertake a research project, allowing them to apply their learning to a real-world issue or investigation in the field of sports analysis. Across all years, the Suffolk Graduate modules focus on developing employability, professional practice, and personal development. This structured progression ensures students graduate with a comprehensive skill set suited to the demands of professional sports performance analysis, ready to contribute effectively in elite sports environments or pursue further academic research.
