COURSE CURRICULUM

The Paramedic Science degree is structured across three years to progressively build knowledge, skills, and professional readiness. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of human anatomy and physiology, essential for understanding the human body in health and disease. Modules such as "Preparation for Paramedic Practice" help students develop professional identity, ethical awareness, and reflective skills, laying the groundwork for becoming responsible practitioners. The “Patient Management – Care of the Individual” modules focus on assessment and treatment techniques for individuals, while “Meeting Psychosocial Needs” introduces the psychological and social dimensions of patient care, fostering empathy and holistic support.In the second year, learning deepens with a two-part exploration of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, emphasizing how these systems interact in acute and chronic illness. Students continue developing their clinical skills through modules focused on patient management and care priorities in increasingly complex situations. The inclusion of pharmacology enables students to understand medication principles, safe administration, and drug interactions. The research methods module introduces evidence-based practice, preparing students to apply academic knowledge to clinical decision-making.The final year focuses on managing complex healthcare scenarios. Students take on advanced modules in patient management within challenging environments, reinforcing leadership, critical thinking, and resilience. A dissertation allows them to engage in independent research and showcase academic development. The “Transition into Registered Practice” module supports students in preparing for the realities of professional life, ensuring a smooth entry into the healthcare workforce. “Collaborative Learning and Coaching” promotes teamwork and interprofessional collaboration, key attributes in emergency and out-of-hospital care.
