COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diagnostic Radiography degree is structured across three years to provide a comprehensive education in imaging science, patient care, and professional practice. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with modules such as Foundations of Diagnostic Radiography 1 and 2, which introduce core principles of radiographic practice and professional responsibilities. Students also study Anatomy, Physiology and Acute Care, enabling them to understand the human body and how to respond to patients with acute needs. Practical experience begins early with Diagnostic Radiography Practice 1, where students start developing hands-on clinical skills. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced technical and professional concepts. Instrumentation and Application in Imaging deepens students’ understanding of the equipment and technology used across various radiographic modalities. Research Methods for Contemporary Healthcare introduces key research principles and ethics, preparing students to engage with evidence-based practice. Managing Complexity in Radiographic Care teaches students how to handle diverse and challenging clinical scenarios. Continued professional development occurs through Diagnostic Radiography Practice 2, which builds on first-year clinical experience. In the final year, students undertake a Diagnostic Radiography Project, applying research skills to a topic of professional relevance. Image Interpretation and Developing Imaging Technology enhances students’ ability to evaluate images and stay current with innovations in imaging. Coaching and Leadership for Radiographers prepares students for leadership roles, with a focus on guiding colleagues and supporting patients. The program concludes with Diagnostic Radiography Practice 3, a final clinical placement where students consolidate their technical, communication, and decision-making skills in preparation for professional registration and full-time employment in healthcare settings. This structure ensures graduates are clinically competent, research-informed, and ready to enter the workforce as confident and capable diagnostic radiographers.
