COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) pathway offers a comprehensive and structured curriculum that evolves over three years to build advanced knowledge in computing, data science, and artificial intelligence. In the first year, students are introduced to core computing concepts through modules such as Computing Fundamentals, Networking and Cyber Security, Introduction to Web Design, and Introduction to Programming. A foundational understanding of AI and data science is also developed early with the Introduction to AI and Data Science module, laying the groundwork for future specialisation.In the second year, the course deepens technical expertise with compulsory modules in Software Engineering, Databases, and Advanced Programming and Data Structures. Students also have the option to explore more specialised topics such as Advanced Web Development, Security Testing, and Machine Learning, which further enhance their skills in building intelligent systems and understanding data-driven technologies.The third year provides an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge in a practical context through a Final Project, which is a mandatory component. Alongside this, a wide range of optional modules allows students to tailor their studies to suit individual interests and career goals. These include Information Engineering, AI and Data Science Applications, Distributed Systems and Cloud Computing, Mobile Development, and several cyber security-focused options such as Cyber Security: Attack and Defence, Cyber-Physical Security, and Cyber Forensics and Intrusion Management. Students can also specialise further with Advanced Artificial Intelligence.
