COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Psychological Research Methods program provides students with comprehensive training in both quantitative and qualitative research techniques, equipping them with the skills needed to conduct high-quality psychological research. In the autumn semester, students undertake core modules in quantitative analysis methods and research skills, alongside specialist options such as child development, cognition and neuropsychology, advances in perception and action, or climate and environmental psychology. This combination allows students to tailor their learning to their interests while developing advanced analytical skills. Practical experience is emphasised through placements, which can be completed in a single block or distributed across the year, giving students the opportunity to apply research methods in real-world settings and gain valuable professional experience. The autumn semester also includes research methods training across two modules, ensuring a strong foundation in both theory and practice. In the spring semester, students focus on qualitative approaches in psychology, enhancing their ability to gather, analyse, and interpret complex data from diverse sources. The program culminates in a dissertation, where students design and execute an independent research project, integrating the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the year. Graduates leave with a robust understanding of psychological research methods, prepared for careers in psychology, research, and data-driven roles across multiple sectors.
