COURSE CURRICULUM

The TESOL postgraduate program is structured to provide a comprehensive combination of theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and research skills in teaching English to speakers of other languages. In the autumn semester, students begin with core modules covering the principles of language learning and teaching, alongside TESOL methodology, which establishes a strong foundation in both the theory and practice of language education. Students also have the flexibility to select additional options, such as studying language discourse and society, to tailor their learning to their interests and career goals. In the spring semester, the program continues with research methods in TESOL, equipping students with the skills to design and conduct research projects relevant to language teaching and learning. Additional spring options, including sociolinguistics, microteaching, technology in language education, and discourse analysis, provide opportunities for hands-on practice, critical analysis, and the application of innovative teaching techniques. In the summer semester, students consolidate their learning through a dissertation or teaching portfolio, which allows them to engage in an in-depth research project or demonstrate applied professional skills. Overall, the program combines rigorous academic study with practical training, ensuring graduates are confident, critically reflective, and well-prepared to succeed as TESOL practitioners in diverse educational settings globally.
