COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Sustainable Aquaculture program provides a structured, practical, and theoretical approach to understanding and managing aquatic production systems. In the autumn semester, students study the foundations of aquatic production and gain hands-on experience through modules such as Aquaculture in Practice. They also have the option to specialise in areas such as aquaculture nutrition, enabling them to tailor their learning to their career interests. In the spring semester, the focus shifts to environmental systems, genetics, and reproduction, providing a comprehensive understanding of the biological and ecological factors that influence sustainable aquaculture. Additional modules such as Aquaculture and Society and Aquaculture Health Control explore the social, environmental, and health-related dimensions of aquatic animal farming, emphasising responsible and sustainable practices. The summer semester is dedicated to a substantial project, allowing students to integrate their knowledge and skills in a practical research or applied setting. Options include projects in aquaculture development, breeding and genetics, nutrition, health, and environmental management. This approach ensures that graduates leave the program with not only a strong scientific foundation but also practical and research-based experience in managing aquaculture enterprises. The combination of theory, practical application, and project-based learning equips students to contribute effectively to sustainable and innovative aquaculture practices, meeting the growing global demand for skilled professionals in the sector.
