COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the MSc Global Politics program is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in political analysis, research methods, and specialised areas of international conflict and cooperation. In the autumn semester, students develop essential skills in research design, quantitative data analysis, and approaches to international politics, equipping them with the ability to investigate political phenomena rigorously. The spring semester expands on these skills through qualitative data analysis and a selection of option modules that allow students to explore specific areas of interest, such as transitional justice, legacies of war, human rights atrocities, climate change, human security, resource conflicts, and climate justice. This combination of compulsory and optional modules ensures that students gain both methodological expertise and in-depth knowledge of contemporary global challenges. Throughout the year, students are encouraged to critically evaluate political systems, policies, and international interventions, applying both quantitative and qualitative approaches to real-world issues. The summer semester is dedicated to the dissertation, providing an opportunity for students to undertake an independent research project, synthesising their learning and contributing original analysis to the field of global politics. By the end of the year, graduates are equipped with the analytical, research, and specialist knowledge needed to pursue careers in international organisations, government, non-governmental organisations, and research-focused roles in global political studies.
