COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Gender Studies program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary gender and sexuality issues, combining theoretical exploration with advanced research skills. In the autumn semester, students undertake foundational training in arts and humanities, quantitative data analysis, and a core module on key concepts and debates in genders and sexualities. This combination ensures that students gain both critical subject knowledge and practical analytical skills from the start. During the spring semester, students continue their academic and research development by selecting optional modules in areas of gender studies, complemented by compulsory modules in advanced quantitative methods, qualitative data analysis, and subjects such as criminalisation, social control, and human rights. Additional modules on equality, equity, diversity, inclusion, and representing genders and sexualities allow students to explore the social, cultural, and political dimensions of gender in depth. The program emphasizes the application of research skills, equipping students to critically examine complex social issues. In the summer semester, students complete a 60-credit dissertation, conducting independent research that synthesizes theoretical knowledge and practical analytical techniques developed throughout the course. Graduates emerge with expertise in gender studies, advanced research capabilities, and the skills necessary for careers in research, policy, advocacy, and other fields where gender analysis is essential.
