COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Gender and Diplomatic Practice is a unique program that combines academic study with practical experience to prepare students for careers in international relations, human rights, and policy-making. In the autumn semester, students build a foundation through compulsory modules such as Training for Masters in the Arts and Humanities and Key Concepts and Debates: Gender and Diplomatic Practice, while also selecting from options focused on international conflict, cooperation, and political analysis. The spring semester expands on these foundations, offering modules in diplomacy, gender inclusion, equality, diversity, and advanced quantitative methods, alongside options in criminalisation, social control, and human rights. This combination ensures students develop both theoretical understanding and practical analytical skills to address complex global challenges. The summer semester focuses on a dissertation or a practical on-the-job training placement at a United Nations or UN-affiliated institution, providing direct exposure to international policy-making and diplomatic practice. Through this integration of rigorous academic study, applied research, and professional experience, students gain a deep understanding of the intersection of gender and global diplomacy, learning to influence policy, advocate for inclusion, and contribute meaningfully to international organisations. Graduates emerge equipped with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to drive change and advance gender equality in global contexts.
