COURSE CURRICULUM

The English Language Teaching and Management Masters is structured to give students both specialist teaching knowledge and essential management expertise. In the autumn semester, students begin with the core module Principles of Language Learning and Teaching, alongside Managing an International Organisation, ensuring they gain a strong foundation in TESOL pedagogy and leadership. They also choose from options such as TESOL Methodology or Language Discourse and Society, tailoring their studies to either deepen practical classroom skills or explore the sociocultural dimensions of language use. The spring semester builds on this with a compulsory module in Research Methods in TESOL, providing the tools to critically evaluate and conduct research in language education. Students then select additional options, such as Sociolinguistics, Microteaching, Technology in Language Education, or Approaches in Discourse Analysis, allowing for further personalisation of their academic pathway. They also take a management option, choosing from Project Management, Innovation Management, Business in Europe & Emerging Markets, or Managing Entrepreneurial and Family Businesses, broadening their career potential beyond teaching. The summer semester culminates in a dissertation, where students undertake independent research in ELT and Management, applying the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course to prepare for advanced careers in international education and leadership.
