COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the MSc in Autism and Neurodevelopmental Conditions Research provides students with a comprehensive set of modules that combine advanced research training with specialist knowledge in autism studies. In the autumn semester, students take four compulsory modules. Quantitative Analysis Methods in Psychological Research develops advanced statistical and analytical skills, while Key Skills for Psychology Researchers focuses on essential professional and academic competencies needed for high-level research. The Autism and Neurodevelopmental Conditions Research module introduces students to current theories and findings in the field, with a focus on autism and co-occurring conditions. Research Methods in Psychology 1 & 2, a module that continues into the spring semester, provides a solid grounding in methodological approaches across psychological research. Alongside this, students complete a compulsory placement module, worth 20 credits, which can be taken as a four-week block or distributed throughout the year, offering practical experience in professional or research settings. In the spring semester, students also undertake Qualitative Approaches in Psychology, gaining expertise in qualitative research design, data collection, and analysis. The summer semester is dedicated to a 60-credit dissertation project, allowing students to apply their learning to an independent piece of research. This combination of coursework, placement, and dissertation prepares students for research-focused careers in psychology and autism studies.
