COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the MSc in Artificial Intelligence, students follow a carefully structured program that builds both theoretical understanding and practical skills in key areas of AI. During the autumn semester, students take three compulsory 20-credit modules: Commercial and Scientific Applications, which explores the role of AI in real-world contexts; Representing and Manipulating Data, which develops essential data handling skills; and Mathematical and Statistical Foundations, which provides the quantitative knowledge necessary for advanced study in AI and data science. In the spring semester, the focus shifts toward more advanced topics, with compulsory modules in Machine Learning, where students study algorithms and predictive modelling; Deep Learning for Vision and NLP, which introduces state-of-the-art techniques in computer vision and natural language processing; and Stochastic Processes and Optimisation, which equips students with mathematical tools for modelling uncertainty and solving optimisation problems. The summer semester is devoted to a major 60-credit dissertation project, where students choose between a traditional Dissertation Project or the Professional Doctorate First Stage. This allows them to apply their learning to either academic research or industry-focused challenges. By combining theory, practical application, and independent research, the program prepares graduates for advanced careers in artificial intelligence across academia, technology, and industry.
