COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the program, students follow a structured curriculum designed to build a strong foundation in advanced computing and artificial intelligence. During the autumn semester, all students are required to complete compulsory modules in Advanced Programming with Python and Machine Learning, each carrying 20 credits, ensuring core technical skills are developed. In addition, students select a 20-credit mathematics module from options such as Mathematical and Statistical Foundations or Statistics and Network Analysis in Data Science, providing essential analytical and statistical knowledge. The spring semester continues to build on this foundation with compulsory modules in Artificial Intelligence for Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence for Natural Language Processing, both 20 credits, allowing students to gain specialized expertise in key AI applications. Students also complete a 20-credit module in Stochastic Processes and Optimisation, which equips them with advanced problem-solving and modelling skills. The summer semester is dedicated to the dissertation, where students select 60 credits from Big Data Dissertation options, such as the Dissertation Project or the Professional Doctorate First Stage. This component allows students to apply their acquired knowledge to a substantial, research-driven project, fostering independent learning, critical thinking, and practical application of AI and advanced computing techniques in a professional or research context.
