COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Sport and Exercise Science degree at the University of Stirling provides students with a comprehensive education in human performance, health, and wellbeing. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge with modules in sport, exercise science, physiology, and psychology, while also selecting an optional module to broaden their understanding in areas such as finance, ecology, computing, or economics. The second year focuses on developing practical and analytical skills through lab work, data analysis, human anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, and introductory sport and exercise psychology. In the third year, students advance their expertise with in-depth study of biomechanics, motor control, exercise physiology, sports medicine, applied exercise physiology, and the psychology of physical activity and health. This year combines theoretical learning with practical application to prepare students for professional practice. In the fourth and final year, students engage in advanced research methods and specialized readings in sport and exercise science, equipping them with the skills needed to critically evaluate and conduct scientific research. The program culminates in a substantial research project, allowing students to apply their knowledge and practical skills to investigate real-world questions in sport and exercise science. This structured progression ensures graduates are highly competent, employable, and ready for careers in sport, health, exercise science, and performance analysis.
