COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology program provides a thorough exploration of human and animal behavior through a combination of core and optional modules, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Students begin with introductory modules that establish foundational understanding of psychology, complemented by options from other disciplines such as computing, biology, economics, and environmental studies, promoting a broad and interdisciplinary approach. Progressing through the course, students study specialized areas including the Social Mind, Brain and Behaviour, Cognition, Social Psychology, Individual Differences, and Developmental Psychology, which deepen understanding of cognitive, social, and developmental processes. Research methods and practical skills are emphasized, equipping students to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and critically evaluate evidence. Clinical and health psychology modules provide insight into applied aspects of the field, including mental health and wellbeing. In the final stage, students undertake a substantial Psychology Research Project, allowing for independent, in-depth study and the application of research skills in a supervised context. Complementary modules, including Psychology in Context, work placements, and advanced topics, offer opportunities to gain professional experience and explore specialized areas of interest. Overall, the program fosters analytical thinking, scientific literacy, and practical expertise, preparing graduates for diverse careers in psychology, research, healthcare, and related fields, as well as further postgraduate study.
