COURSE CURRICULUM

The Adult Nursing program at the University of Stirling provides a structured pathway combining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional development to prepare students for a career in healthcare. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through Practice Learning Experience 1, alongside modules in Integrated Anatomy and Physiology for Health, Self, Relationships and Healthcare, and Developing Fundamental Clinical Skills, which continues into the spring semester. In the second semester, students complete Practice Learning Experience 2 and Promoting Mental Health and Resilience, introducing them to mental health considerations in patient care. The second year deepens clinical practice and applied knowledge, with Practice Learning Experiences 3 and 4 and modules including Supporting Self-Management through Positive Relationships, Assessing and Promoting Health and Wellbeing, Integrating Clinical Skills, and Acute Illness and Deterioration. In year three, students progress to advanced practice with modules such as Advanced Assessment and Applied Pharmacology, Complexities of Adult Care, and Practice Learning Experience 6, culminating in the spring semester with Leading Excellence in Practice and Practice Learning Experience 7. The final year emphasizes research, evaluation, and broader perspectives in healthcare through modules on Principles, Processes and Evaluation of Research, Wider Perspectives of Healthcare, and optional study in Integrated Approaches to Frailty, alongside a 60-credit dissertation. The program ensures graduates are competent, reflective, and prepared for professional adult nursing practice.
