COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science degree at the University of Stirling offers a comprehensive program that combines theoretical foundations with practical experience to prepare students for careers in computing and technology. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through compulsory modules in Introduction to Computing Science and Discrete Structures, alongside optional modules to broaden their knowledge in areas such as finance, ecology, and data science. In the third year, students advance their expertise with Software Engineering, Machine Learning, UX Design, and other computing options, while also having the chance to undertake an industrial summer placement. The final year emphasizes independent research through a Computing Science Project dissertation, alongside advanced modules in areas such as Computer Security, Networks, Artificial Intelligence, and Natural Language Processing. The curriculum is designed to ensure graduates have a strong technical understanding, hands-on experience, and industry readiness, equipping them for diverse roles in software development, data science, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies, while also fostering skills in problem-solving, analysis, and innovation.
