COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Computing course provides a comprehensive blend of computing and business studies, equipping students with the skills to develop IT solutions that meet organisational needs. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with modules in computing science, programming, and data science, alongside an introduction to the global business environment and management challenges. Core modules such as Introduction to Computing Science, Programming and User Interface Design, and Fundamentals for Scientific Inquiry establish essential technical and analytical skills, while optional modules allow exploration of interdisciplinary topics like ecology or accounting. In the second year, students advance their technical expertise with modules in data structures, database principles, programming paradigms, and managing information, while also gaining insight into sustainability and business operations. The third year focuses on applying computing knowledge in practical and strategic contexts, with modules in software engineering, machine learning, entrepreneurship, and business analytics, and optional industrial placements provide hands-on industry experience. The final year emphasizes independent research and professional practice through a substantial Computing Science Project, complemented by options in international business, strategic management, UX design, computer security, natural language processing, and project management. By integrating theory, practice, and industry engagement, the program prepares graduates for careers in software development, IT consultancy, business analytics, and technology-driven business roles.
