COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first stage of the Software Development with Cyber Security course, students have the opportunity to enhance their professional development, with an optional module designed for those wishing to undertake a work experience placement. During this stage, students choose 60 credits from a range of modules tailored to the software development and cybersecurity focus, including code analysis and performance, scripting for data science, introduction to machine learning, and UX design in the first semester. In the second semester, options continue with modules such as NoSQL databases and data warehousing, computer games development, software engineering II, and operating systems, concurrency, and distribution, alongside an optional industrial summer placement to gain practical experience. In the second stage, students engage with advanced topics and undertake a substantial computing science project that continues across both semesters. They study computer security and networks as a compulsory module while selecting additional specialized modules, such as artificial intelligence, mobile app development, and web services in the first semester, and options including NoSQL databases, distributed data science systems, and natural language processing and computer vision in the second semester. This structure combines practical and theoretical learning, preparing students for the complexities of modern software development and cybersecurity, and ensuring they graduate with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the rapidly evolving technology industry.
