COURSE CURRICULUM

The Adult Nursing program at the University of Stirling is structured to provide a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, preparing students for professional practice in healthcare. In the first year, students focus on foundational skills, beginning with Practice Learning Experience 1 alongside modules in Integrated Anatomy and Physiology, Self, Relationships and Healthcare, and Developing Fundamental Clinical Skills, which continues into the spring semester. In the second semester, Practice Learning Experience 2 is combined with Promoting Mental Health and Resilience, allowing students to apply early clinical skills while understanding the psychological aspects of care. The second year builds on this foundation with Practice Learning Experiences 3 and 4 and modules that deepen clinical expertise, including Supporting Self-Management through Positive Relationships, Assessing and Promoting Health and Wellbeing, Integrating Clinical Skills, and Acute Illness and Deterioration. Year three focuses on advanced practice and leadership, with modules such as Advanced Assessment and Applied Pharmacology, Complexities of Adult Care, and continued Practice Learning Experiences 6 and 7. The final semester emphasizes leadership and excellence in practice, integrating knowledge and skills developed over the course. Across all years, the program ensures that students gain a balanced combination of clinical practice, professional development, and applied healthcare knowledge, equipping them to become competent, compassionate, and confident adult nursing practitioners ready to meet the complex demands of modern healthcare environments.
