COURSE CURRICULUM

The University of Stirling’s BAcc (Hons) Accountancy and Finance degree is structured to provide a progressive and comprehensive understanding of accounting, finance, and business principles over four years. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through compulsory modules such as Introduction to Financial Accounting, Financial Markets and Institutions, Introduction to Management Accounting, Introductory Economics, and The Management Challenge, alongside options that allow exploration of complementary subjects like computing, ecology, and business management. The second year deepens understanding with modules in Finance I and II, Personal Finance, Business and Corporate Law, and External Reporting, while offering options to select additional modules in related areas. In the third year, students advance their skills through modules such as Advanced Financial Accounting, Quantitative Methods for Business Decisions, Accounting Information and Employment, Applied Management Accounting, Taxation, and Mergers and Acquisitions, equipping them with analytical, technical, and strategic competencies. The fourth year focuses on higher-level specialisation and professional readiness, with options including Accounting Analytics, Issues in Accounting, International Finance, Securities and Investment, and Personal Financial Planning, alongside compulsory modules in Auditing and Financial Analysis. The program integrates theoretical knowledge with applied skills, preparing graduates for professional accountancy, finance careers, and further study while aligning with industry standards and professional qualification pathways.
