COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Professional Accountancy degree at the University of Stirling provides a structured pathway for students to develop expertise in accounting and finance over four years. In the second year, students begin with foundational modules such as Introduction to Financial Accounting, Business and Corporate Law, and Personal Finance, supported by the HeadStart program to ease the transition into higher-level study. In the second semester, they progress to Introduction to Management Accounting, External Reporting, and Introductory Economics, building the analytical and technical skills needed for professional practice. In the third year, students deepen their knowledge with Corporate Finance, Quantitative Methods for Business Decisions, and Accounting Information and Employment in the first semester, followed by Applied Management Accounting, Taxation, and Finance II in the second semester. These modules provide practical experience and critical understanding of complex financial concepts, preparing students for real-world applications. In the fourth year, students engage with advanced topics such as Advanced Financial Accounting, Issues in Accounting, and International Finance in the first semester, and complete their studies with Auditing, Critical Analysis of Accounting and Finance Issues, and Financial Analysis in the final semester. Across the course, students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for a successful career in accountancy, while also receiving significant exemptions from professional accountancy bodies, positioning them strongly for future professional qualification and employment.
