COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law degree at the University of Stirling provides a comprehensive and structured program across four years, combining compulsory and optional modules to build a broad understanding of legal principles and their practical application. In the first year, students study foundational subjects such as Law in the 21st Century and Criminal Law and Evidence, alongside a choice of 40 credits from modules spanning finance, computing, science, and economics to broaden their interdisciplinary skills. The second year introduces Business Law II and Family Law, while offering options from both Arts and Law programs to further expand knowledge and understanding in related fields. In the third year, students focus on research skills through a compulsory Research Methods module and can select from advanced topics such as Alternative Commercial Dispute Resolution, International Human Rights Law, Environmental Law, Labour Law, and Children’s Rights, with further optional modules in European Law, Energy Law, Jurisprudence, Private International Commercial Law, and Roman Law. The fourth year culminates in a 60-credit Law Dissertation, continued across two semesters, allowing students to conduct independent research in a specialised area of interest, supported by optional modules that deepen expertise in international, commercial, and human rights law. Throughout the program, students develop analytical, research, and practical skills, preparing them for diverse careers in the legal, business, and public sectors.
