COURSE CURRICULUM

The Human Resource Management program at the University of Stirling is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of HR practices, business management, and organisational development across four years. In the first year, students take compulsory modules such as The Global Business Environment and The Management Challenge, alongside option modules in subjects including accounting, economics, computing, environmental studies, and science, offering a broad interdisciplinary foundation. Year two builds on this knowledge with compulsory modules in People Management and People, Policy and Practice, while students select additional option modules from areas such as business organisation, reporting, information management, and science, enabling them to develop analytical and practical skills relevant to HR. In the third year, students focus on core HR topics including Learning and Development, HRM in Context, Resourcing and Talent Management, Reward in Practice, and Contemporary Employment Relations, complemented by optional modules in management, international business, and responsible business. The final year emphasizes professional application and strategic thinking, with compulsory modules in HR Professional Practice and a consultancy project dissertation, alongside optional modules covering areas such as strategic management, business analytics, innovation, and workplace wellbeing. Across all years, the program integrates theoretical understanding with practical experience, preparing graduates to excel in HR roles, contribute to organisational success, and adapt to the evolving demands of the modern workplace.
