COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Studies course at the University of Stirling provides a comprehensive and flexible approach to understanding the principles and practices of modern business. In the first year, students build a foundation through compulsory modules in accounting, finance, and the global business environment, while also selecting optional modules across a wide range of subjects such as computing, economics, ecology, and physiology. This flexibility allows students to explore diverse interests while developing core business knowledge. In the second year, the focus shifts to sustainability in management, organisational structures, and strategic business simulations, complemented by options in data science, genetics, and other interdisciplinary subjects, fostering both analytical and practical skills. The third year deepens knowledge in international business, strategic management, entrepreneurship, business technology, and responsible business practices, with additional options in environmental economics, human resources, and behavioural economics. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a dissertation or consultancy project, combining research and applied problem-solving, alongside modules in responsible business, professional development, and management electives. Across all four years, the program balances theoretical understanding with practical application, preparing students for a wide range of careers in business, management, and related fields while encouraging intellectual curiosity, strategic thinking, and professional competence.
