COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Digital Media course, students engage with both compulsory and optional modules to develop a strong foundation in digital creativity and media production. The compulsory module, Digital Creativity, introduces essential skills in content creation, while optional modules allow students to explore areas such as applied digital media, media audiences and reception studies, screenwriting, screening science fiction, and the coverage of terrorism in media. In the second semester, students can select additional options including social media marketing and analytics, motion graphics and animation, advanced digital storytelling, video games and philosophy, and global film studies, enabling them to tailor their learning to their interests and career goals. In the second year, students continue to build expertise through either a research-focused or practical project pathway. Compulsory modules include Researching the Media and Culture, while optional modules cover applied digital media, audio podcasting, content development and research, media audiences and reception studies, and screening science fiction. In the second semester, students complete a major dissertation or digital project, supported by further optional modules such as social media marketing, motion graphics, advanced digital storytelling, gender and representation, and public relations and promotional culture. This combination of compulsory and flexible modules ensures students gain practical skills, critical understanding, and research experience, preparing them for careers across media, communications, and creative industries.
